Malaysian Society of the University of Essex
Sherry Anderson once said, 'Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless.'
On the 25th October 2014, members of the Malaysian Society Essex had volunteered in the Colchester FIlm Festival which was held in Firstsite.
Colchester Film Festival 2014 took place from the 22nd-26th of October 2014 at the Firstsite Colchester Visual Arts Gallery (Essex, UK). The festival showcased some of the best filmmaking talent from around the world and was a chance for audiences to watch the best new feature and short films from across the globe.
The volunteering event was from 2pm - 7pm, whereby volunteers were required to give out booklets, managing the ticketing booth, as well as guiding visitors to the theatre.
One of the perks of the volunteering event was not only the enhancement of interpersonal skills as well as organisational skills, volunteers were also given a free t-shirt, and were also able to watch a few of the award winning short films for free.
Despite the unflattering rain and gloomy weather, the Fresher's Fair had been quite the success. We've gained more members than previous years including a decent number of other international students as well! So lets give a round of applause to our President Aiman and the other executives for doing a job well done!
And on the side note, special thanks are also to be given to some of our very dedicated freshers, Sara and Khadijah for lending a helping hand in preparing for the event.
Not to mention special thanks as well to Ng Wee Siang for snapping valuable pictures of the fair.
Emails will be sent out shortly in regards to the next socials. In the meantime, thank you all for the support!
